NHL Handshake - 2013 Stanley Cup Final Commercial

The new NHL spot — aired during the NBC broadcast of the first game of the finals — depicts members of winning and losing teams over seven decades as they line up to shake hands at center ice at the end of the finals. The spot features legendary players like Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky and Phil Esposito, as well as the current stars Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils, Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks and Teemu Selanne of the Anaheim Ducks. The spot closes by saying, “It’s not yours until you shake on it.”

The music driven spot features an original score by Brandon O'Connell, and Conor Meads, which incorporates a solo piano, and a sentimental orchestral swell into the revealing of the stanley cup.  The musical production, orchestrated and conducted by Chris Fulford-Brown, features a live large ensemble of strings and brass, which were recorded by Brandon O'Connell at Singing Serpent, San Diego.
